CURBSIDE TREE PICK-UP . . . The City of Palo Alto will pick up Christmas trees (even flocked ones) with other yard trimmings on regular collection days. Trees must be stripped of decorations and tinsel, decorative stands and nails, then cut into 4-foot sections. People in apartments should check with their managers for pick-up information. Trees can also be dropped off at the Palo Alto Drop-Off Center, east end of Embarcadero Road, across from Byxbee Park, between Dec. 26 and Feb. 7 for no fee. The center is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except holidays). PLANT AN IDEA . . . Palo Alto Adult School offers a number of gardening classes throughout the year. Upcoming classes include: "Gardening," with Sheri Bohan, Wednesdays, Jan. 7-March 10, 10 a.m. to noon, $19 (Cubberley A-2); and "Garden Design for Homeowners," with Fran Adams, Tuesdays, Jan. 20-March 9, 6:30 to 9 p.m., $89 (Palo Alto High School Room 807). PUZZLED OVER DESIGN? . . . Design coach Melissa Wilson will once more offer her "Design Your Home with Professional Coaching" course through Palo Alto Adult School.
