PREP ROUNDUP . . . The high school water polo season officially came to an end last weekend with the annual all-star matches at Sacred Heart Prep. In the boys' Pacific Water CCS Senior All-Star Game, Division I held off Division II by a scant 12-11, despite three goals from Sacred Heart Prep senior Brandon Child. Menlo senior Taylor Wells also scored for Division II, while Gunn senior Siddharth Menon scored once for Division I. In the girls' East-West match, Sacred Heart Prep senior Bailey Samuels was named MVP after scoring four goals to lead the East to a 12-6 victory. Carrie Paton scored three goals and fellow SHP senior Ali Gramaglia added a single tally . . . Gunn's Will Keller won the gold medal at 171 pounds by pinning all his opponents at the Peninsula Challenge wrestling tournament last weekend at Terra Nova High in Pacifica. Teammate Adam Juratovac finished fifth at 275 pounds. Both helped the Titans finish the fall season at 5-0, topped by a 48-21 dual-match win over visiting Harker last week . . . The Menlo School girls' basketball team (2-7)picked up its first win at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions by handling Cleveland-Reseda, 51-27, in a Small Schools Division game Monday. Junior Constance Kirkendoll led the Knights with 13 points. Sacred Heart Prep (2-4), meanwhile, dropped its third straight in the tournament following a 41-37 loss to Alemany of Los Angeles. The game was interrupted at halftime by the earthquakes that struck the Paso Robles area. Jessica Pecota led the Gators with eight points and 11 rebounds.
LOCAL SOCCER NEWS . . . The MVLA CyberRays, a CYSA Girls' U-12 Class 3 (born after 7/31/91) is looking for several fast, skilled and dedicated players to help the team move up to the next level. Players can be from Saratoga, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills.
