David Evan Bowen

David Evan Bowen, 68, died Nov. 30, two months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Penelope; his son, Kenneth and wife, Judith; his sister, Genevieve; his brother, Bob; his brother, Jack; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, 22221 McClellan Road, Cupertino, CA 95014; the Sequoia Audubon Society, P.O. Box 755 Millbrae, CA 94030; or the Peninsula Humane Society, 12 Airport Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94401.

A celebration of his life is planned for a later date.
Natan B. Brayin

Natan B. Brayin, 86, died Nov. 12 at Stanford Hospital.

He was a native of Russia. He was also a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.

He served as an army surgeon during World War II and saved the lives of many wounded soldiers on the battlefield during the German Army's siege of Leningrad. He suffered numerous wounds during the war and was awarded many medals and honors for his heroism.

He immigrated to America in 1991, and became a U.S. citizen five years later.

He is survived by his second wife Inessa Lipschitz Braynin; his daughter Kira Flanzraich; his son Boris Braynin; and his three grandsons Kirill Braynin, Derek and Jordan Flanzraich.
Doris Dorman Feinberg

Doris Dorman Feinberg, 86, a 53-year Palo Alto resident, died Dec. 9 in Redwood City.

She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles and conducted graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley. She was a longtime member of AAUW and Congregation Beth Am.

She was married to Justice Sidney Feinberg for 67 years. She is survived by her daughter Erica Feinberg McClure; her husband, Malcolm; her son Ian Feinberg and his wife, Kathryn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services have been held.
Tom Fox, Jr.

Tom Fox, a lifelong Palo Alto resident, died Dec. 8 from pneumonia.

He graduated from Palo Alto High School and Stanford University. He served in the infantry during World War II. Afterward, he worked as a civil engineer for the California Department of Transportation for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife Elisabeth; his daughter, Ellen Fox, of Denver, Colo.; and his daughter, Janet Fox, of Menlo Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing or to International Fund for Animal Welfare, P.O. Box 97105, Washington, DC 20090-7105.

Beverly E. Kost

Beverly E. Kost, 76, died peacefully at her home in Menlo Park Dec. 5.

She grew up in Daly City and graduated from Jefferson High School as class valedictorian. She chose work over college, however, to support her family after her father had died. She worked on Treasure Island during World War II, where she met her husband of 57 years, Bob Krost, who was in the U.S. Navy.

The couple chose Menlo Park in 1954 to raise their family and have lived there for 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing golf. She was a member of Saint Denis Lady's Guild and an accomplished artist. She was happiest when spending time with her loving family. She is survived by her husband Robert; her two daughters, Cathie Harry, of Redwood City, and Cindie Krost, of Menlo Park; Grandsons Stephen Martin and Shaun Mulhall; one granddaughter; and two great grandchildren.

Services have been held.
Beverly May Neil

Beverly May Neil, 64, a resident of Menlo Park, died Nov. 29.

A graduate of Kingston General Hospital Nursing School, she worked briefly as a registered nurse in Pasadena, Calif. After relocating to several cities, she settled in Menlo Park. She enjoyed traveling with her family and playing tennis.

She is survived by her sister, RaeAnn Thorsteinson; her brother, William Hendry; her daughter, Nadine Fabish, of Chicago; her son, Michael Neil, of Issaquah; her grandson, Tyler Fabish and one granddaughter.

Donations can be made to the Community Breast Health Project at 545 Bryant St., Palo Alto, CA 94301.

Services have been held.
Josepha Stiene

Josepha Stiene, 99, died Dec. 5, one month away from her 100th birthday.

Born in Atlag, Gottschee, Austria, she moved to Palo Alto after the death of her husband of 62 years, Frank Stiene.

She is survived her children, Frank Joseph Stiene and Josephine Maria Stiene; her daughter-in-law, Michael Cordak; her granddaughter in-law, Christina Salata Steena and her nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Glendale, NY.
