:The 16th annual Christmas Creche Exhibit will take place Dec. 6-10 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Palo Alto.

Thursday

"The Fourth Wall"
will preview tonight at 8 p.m. at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by A.R. Gurney, the play demolishes the boundaries between actor and audience to tell the tale of a frazzled suburban woman. Preview performances will take place Dec. 3-5 at 8 p.m. The production will officially open on Dec. 6. Regular show times are Tuesdays (Dec. 9 and 16) at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m. (no performances Dec. 24 and 25); Saturdays at 8 p.m. ; additional 2 p.m. performances on Dec. 13, 20 and 27; Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m., additional 7 p.m. performance on Dec. 28. "Visual Voice" audio-described performances will be available Dec. 26 and 27 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20-$48; discounts available for youth, students, seniors, and members. "Inspecting Carol" will be presented through Dec. 20 by the Bus Barn Stage Company tonight at 8 p.m. at the Bus Barn Theatre, 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. Regular show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; 7 p.m. on Dec. 7; 8 p.m. on Dec. 14. A discussion will take place on Dec. 5. Individual tickets are $18-$30. "3 Photographers," will run through Jan. 22 at Stanford Art Spaces, located on campus at the Paul Allen Center for Integrated Systems. The exhibition will feature Sandra Chandler's "Venice Carnevale," Jeffrey Davis' "Path of Discovery" and Marie-Jo Mont-Reynaud's "People of Haiti." A reception for the artists will be held at the gallery on Dec. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free. "Hudson River School: Masterworks from the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art" will be on display through Jan. 18 at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University. "For the Love of It," a tribute to Palo Alto gallery owner Paula Kirkeby, will be on display through Jan. 4 at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road. The exhibit will primarily feature works on paper by such artists as Nathan Oliviera, Enrique Chagoya, Michael Mazur and others. Also on display will be "Is Money, Money
," featuring work by contemporary artists -- Ray Beldner, Lisa Kokin and Oriane Stender -- who use currency as the medium of their work to question value. "The Nutcracker"

"The World Goes 'Round" will be presented through Dec. 14 at the Pear Avenue Theatre, 1220 Pear Ave. in Mountain View. The production is a musical revue that celebrates the work of John Kander and Fred Ebb, creators of "Cabaret," "Chicago" and "The Kiss of the Spiderwoman." "Creating an Islamic Republic: Iranian Collections from the Hoover Library and Archives" will run through Dec. 19 in the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion. The Palo Alto Philharmonic
will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at Cubberley Theatre, 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, featuring guest conductor Camilla Kolchinsky and violist Adam Smyla. The program will feature Schubert's "Symphony No. 6 in C major (" Little")," and Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio "Espagnole." Smyla will be the soloist in the "Concerto for Viola and Orchestra" by Bartok and the "Sonata for Viola and Orchestra" by Paganini. The California Bach Society will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 555 Waverley St. (at Hamilton Avenue), Palo Alto. The Peninsula Pops
