Truth or tabloid Truth or tabloid (September 10, 2003)

Tabloid:

Nancy Lytle claims that she "voted against the oversized luxury project at 800 High Street," in campaign material sent to "friends and neighbors." The letter explains her reasons for running for a second term, lists her stance on issues and asks for donations.
Truth:

Lytle did vote against the original plan for the 800 High St. project. But her vote came moments after she voted - and lost - on a motion to substitute a slightly scaled-back development in place of the original plan.

At no point during the Feb. 3, 2003 City Council hearing did Lytle make a motion to kill the project at 800 High St.
Who?

Lytle served as Palo Alto's zoning administrator and chief planner from 1987 to 1997. She is running for her second term on the City Council.
