IN THE MIX . . . The Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring another business mixer tonight, May 28, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Art21 Gallery and Framing at 539 Alma St. A.G. Ferrari will cater the affair. The cost is $5/members and $10/non-members. Also, the next Palo Alto Connections Exchange networking breakfast will be held at the Garden Court Hotel, 520 Cowper St., from 7:30-8:45 a.m. on Friday, June 6. BUSINESS MAGAZINE DEBUTS . . . The Stanford Graduate School of Business has launched a new journal, the Stanford Social Innovation Review. Called "a bridge" between the academic community and business people by GSB Dean Robert Joss, the magazine covers ideas for nonprofit management, philanthropy and corporate citizenship. The premier issue features articles on sparking nonprofit innovation, what happens when companies and activists square off, and how high-engagement philanthropy works, among others. THE NEW 'U' . . . Midtown Shopping Center will welcome a new retail tenant in July, The UPS Store. It takes the place of Let's Draw (next to Baskin-Robbins), whose owner, Hank Buckholdt, is moving on to other endeavors. The UPS Store is the new brand name for the Mail Boxes Etc. chain of retail outlets and offers notary service, copy and fax service, mailboxes, and of course, UPS shipping. As for Let's Draw, Buckholdt has announced he will still be teaching and practicing art, and will have a Web site as of June 1 at www.lets-draw.org.
AWARDS FOR PUBLISHER . . . CPP, Inc., publisher of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (R) and Spectrum CPI 260 (TM) tests, has been singled out for honors by readers of Training Magazine. The Palo Alto company won in two categories of the Achieving Performance Excellence Awards for its tools in skills training and human-resources management.
