Election 2001
CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE'S FORUMS... will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at All Saint's Episcopal Church at 555 Waverley; Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at 1140 Cowper; and next Wednesday Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Park at 3800 Middlefield Road. All 13 council hopefuls (including three incumbents) have been invited to attend the forums. Further down the road, Avenidas, at 450 Bryant, has a candidates forum at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 and the League of Women Voters is sponsoring a forum at Mitchell Park on Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m. Two forums have already taken place for a grand total, thus far, of seven forums for the month of October. Are there that many issues to discuss in Palo Alto?
SCHOOL BOARD FORUM . . . Lest we not forget the School Board candidates. The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum for them. It takes place tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Palo Alto Unified School District office at 25 Churchill. All four candidates, two incumbents and two newcomers, will be on hand to discuss pressing school topics. Expected issues to come up may be land-use, PTA fundraising and the parcel tax.
