Not someone I want cutting me. Many of the surgeons I know have politically incorrect senses of humor & can be goofball, but this guy takes the cake.

Did Stanford continue to employ this man as a surgeon after he was committed/released/taken into custody the FIRST time? - just wondering. That is scary unless it was disclosed to patients. What kind of a surgeon (department/specialty?) was he?

It started with Marcus Welby MD ... the portrayal of doctors as kindly old gentlemen with spotless integrity, and of course the police in the media. These TV programs are nothing but commercials for the police or medical industries.
The reality is that these people are just as peculiar and even more than all of us "regular" citizens.
I once happened to be in line as a Safeway behind one of my doctors. He got to the cashier and then pleaded that he had no money and the cashier just gave him his groceries. Now, what kind of guy walks into a Safeway with no money, especially who owns two local clinics? He said he walked to the store and his car was not out in the parking lot.
It is scary to realize that much of our thought process is filled in and informed by the media and that our doctor heroes are normal people and in many cases with an attitude that is not conducive to the performance of their jobs.
