Drilling for Oil is a Crime Against Humanity
Original post made by a on Jun 23, 2008
Global warming will drive hundreds of species to extinction. Drilling will exacerbate global warming. Using more oil exacerbates global warming. Bush is wrong. He's been wrong for 8 years, he's wrong on drilling too.
20 years ago Jim Hansen predicted extreme weather, melting ice caps, flooded coastal cities, mass extinction of species. Fast forward to 2008 and we see all these things happening before our eyes. Ice shelves collapsing, strange earthquakes, historic floods, massive hurricanes and typhoons. Yet Americans want to drill for more oil and burn more CO2 into the atmosphere. How dumb can we get? When you have a leader as dumb and stupid as Bush, you get dumb followers like the American people.
Pass legislation to develop better solar and wind energy.

That's right, dismiss the obvious reality going on around you, and insult everyone who (strongly) disagrees with you. The world runs on oil, and will for decades to come (to paraphrase Gayvin Newsome) - "whether you like it or not." Alternatives are in the offing, but oil is the bridge. If you don't think so, you're living in a dream world.

As well, I think that many Americans have become wise to the big lie that is anthropomorphic global warming. They're more concerned about how they're going to live their lives and maintain their standard of living. We're looking at the greenies with a bit of a jaundiced eye, since it's essentially their fault (along with a total lack of leadership at the Federal level - Congress) we're in this mess.

Now I feel like the Fireman with all of these sequential posts, but Mr. A has hit a nerve here - you're somehow tying earthquakes to CO2 emissions? That's a geological event - how is that related to climate? And we've never had catastrophic floods on the Mississippi in the past? What about 1927? You don't think the Army Corps and all of their substandard levees have something to do with the current flooding? Hurricanes? Take a look at the period 1930 - 1970. How can you compare that to the present day?
As for Jim Hansen - he's a nut, like many other nuts that have predicted catastrophic events and the extinction of mankind. Give him a sign and put him on a street corner somewhere.
