Why do Palo Altans Elect People with Stanford Connections to City Council?

the three or four on the council who have Stanford connections to disqualify themselves. How irritated I become to learn that so and so
has removed him/herself from the discussion and the Vote!
Major issues--the expansion of Stanford hospsital--and minor get short shrift anda weird balance of the remainder in power. I think a highlight of the coming council election publicity should be an advanced, elevated warning to voters drawing attention to those candidates whose Stanford ties would put them off limits on very important council business.

Stanford was here first. There wouldn't be a Palo Alto if there wasn't a Stanford!
Does it really matter if occasionally a couple of members of our City Council must recuse themselves? There are nine Council persons, so what if only seven are left to vote, that's two more than Menlo Park.

Can someone please explain why Palo Alto gets to control Stanford projects?

Because some Stanford interests lie within our borders.
