Is the media frenzy about the whales in Sacramento too much
Original post made by Whale watcher on May 18, 2007
Are all the people complete with helicopters and news vans really doing a service to the whales, or should we leave the scientists alone to sort out the problem in a quiet manner which would probably be the best thing for the whales themselves?

Cant say that I disagree, but stories like this inevitably attract a lot of attention. Not that the media intentions are noble, but it certainly focuses positive attention on whales (and that was a first-rate kids' book-- motivated one of mine to learn to read!).
I would take 24/7 whale coverage over a half hour of Anna Nicole's baby-- wouldnt you?

Whale? what whale?
Seriously, we are in California, and even in this day and age, we still get excited when an
enormous mammal swims into the bay and up the sacramento river. get over it. if you want
to blast the media, which is a noble thing to do, perhaps you should focus your anger on something a little more worthy of reproach, like the way in which they greatly assisted the selling of war to the american people, for instance. Save the whales! Did you forget what's important?

I'll take the whales over Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, gas prices, the Warriors losing, and war for a change.
Forheavensakes, LIGHTEN UP!!
