Get the Foothill College Spring Qtr. catalog. Some lessons are on the athletic field back of Cubberly on Middlefield Rd.
PAGE 31 - Beginning Golf. . Call Foothill for location and registration info. Very inexpensive.

My son (15) had a great experience with Palo Alto Muni. He took a couple of private lessons and got a lot out of them.

I second that about PA Muni. I took 2 lessons there from the same guy. I can't remember his name, but they all seemed pretty good there.
You are on the right track by taking lessons. If I were you, I would find a teacher, and take as many lessons as you can. When I was a kid, I kind of jumped into the sport, and took a sprinkling of lessons here and there from different teachers. Now, I have tons of bad habits that are hard to break! The biggest improvement in my game came when I took about 6 lessons from the same guy.
So...stick with it! And don't forget to enjoy yourself out there! I knocked a few strokes off my game by learning to just relax and be happy. When I got angry and frustrated, I made more mistakes.
