If you can get by without the wine and extras, you can actually have a pretty decent meal there for well under $100 for two. (But if you are going, get the wine and the extras!) I concur that it's a wonderful local gem. A rare exception to the inattention to ingredient freshness on the peninsula.

Glad to know that there are at least two people who have experience the wonderful food at Bistro Elan. In terms of food this is one of the best places I have experienced anywhere, it ranks with the best restaurants I have tried in France. It's a modest looking place, but do not judge a book by its cover in this case, the food is pure genius.

My family LOVES Bistro Elan!

They are one of Palo Alto's finest gems. And whenever I take my children, they are treated as well as any adult. I can't say enough good things about them.

I concur that Bistro Elan is pretty special. Earlier this year I had the privilege to take a woman I had met for dinner there, and although the relationship never made it past a couple of months, the food, the service, and the warm atmosphere (ok, and her) made it a moment I'll never forget. Although I miss having her in my life, at least I can go back to Bistro Elan over and over, enjoy the food, the service and the atmosphere, and know in my heart that I had a special memorable experience there. Really, the food is excellent. Recommend it.
