What do folks think of "Bistro Basia"?

We've had 2 lovely dinners in this new place that's opened
on California Street (201 S. California street at the corner
of Park Blvd, I think it is).
Its opened very quietly and so far no official reviews have come out.
They've remodeled & decorated the space very beautifully.
(My only complaint is that when the place gets crowded the
noise level is just too high due to all the hard surfaces, I think).
Their potato leek soup is fantastic. Also their signature
apricot souffle for dessert which you have to order with
your meal as there's a long lead time for this.

It's a superb restaurant, owned an run by someone who has operated a multi-star restaurant back east. It's easily one of the top 5 restaurants in Palo Alto, and very possibly the best.

Haven't tried it. The name "bistro" for a restaurant is running rampant. The insanity must stop!

The name "Bistro" stirs up pictures of tiny, intimate, restaurants with maybe 10 tables at most, possibly wrought iron round tables for 2. The menu should be small and no wine list, but a corkage fee for bringing your own wine and they supply the glasses. Anything else would be a misnomer in my mind.
