City nets $11M budget surplus

Original post made by Just Wondering on Dec 13, 2007

It is curious that this was the headline in today's Palo Alto Daily News and didn't even make the Palo Alto Online headlines. Why not? The sub heading: Extra funds likely to go to infrastructure, benefits---so I say, why not sunset the Utility Tax. Did you all know this was going to go on forever. Do we really need to continue padding the city's coffers?

With this sort of surplus, I wonder why we will be facing bonds for library and police buildings.

I say hire some more city managers with $150k base pay, buy a better website for $2m and spend the rest on a huge holiday party for City Hall
