Stanford to recruit faculty to study race

Stanford University has launched a five-year program to recruit young faculty members whose research focuses on the study of ethnicity and race.

I really like the idea of this research. I think that many of us here are aware of the stereotypes associated with race and ethnicity, we at least hear about it all the time in regards to education matters in Palo Alto. I hope that this will be done well, that no one starts using the r word, and that the results, whatever they are, will be made public. At least, we will be able to see if there is any truth in the stereotyping we are all assuming.

Avoidance of the rational study of race has lent undeserved affirmation to some of the worst aspects of racism.
Sunshine is the best detergent. All they need now is a PC detector to keep that virus out of the studies.
