Camille Townsend: "Board member Camille Townsend stressed the importance of using surveys to hone the "classroom expertise" of teachers and get concrete data from students."
This is a very encouraging development from Ms. Townsend.
I applaud this new effort from the Superintendent, and hope that the coming retreat will include someone from the teaching ranks within PAUSD. We need to be very vigilant about making sure that future vision is fully representative of classroom reality, where most formal education takes place.

From this report and the parts of what I saw on tv last night, I like what is going on. I like the idea of the framework for the next 12 years and am now looking forward to seeing how the pieces fit together and what the frame contains. I hope that it will happen the way described, with enough effort to include what we, the parents, envision for our kids' education and then be adhered to for at least the four year period. I feel that this Board is trying to do what it has been elected to do and Skelly is finding his feet and beginning to make a stand.

I hope that the process of soliciting input and feedback includes requesting comment via the internet. This way, all interested parties can comment--as many people do on the Palo Alto Online. Doing limited focus groups seems a bit old fashioned in this day and age.
