Bus-service changes to be discussed Tuesday

My daughter uses the VTA route 88 to connect to the Palo Alto shuttle to get to Paly. Does anyone know if this connection will no longer exist, will it be replaced by the Palo Alto Shuttle service?

Except for school studens these busses run empty or almost empty (1 or 2 people)the rest of the day. Do the taxpayer need to pay for school buses? These diesel busses spew tons of black soot out over the neighborhood. Everything along their route is covered with black exhaust from them and the diesel trucks that use residental streets as shortcuts rather than the truck routes.

The city and VTA should run clean, small busses along many routes thru Palo Alto as they do in Los Gatos.

The city appears to have no interest in working with The VTA to run small busses as they have not tried to work with them as Los Gatos has.

The city should be charging a small fee to ride their busses and expand the service. The original goal was to help the Univerisity buisses bring customers to downtown with free busses and also to allow workers to park in residental areas and catch a free buss to their jobs in downtown.

The meeting is 6;30 to 8:30pm tonight, Tuesday, in the Dance studio at Jordan ,Middlefield at California. People from S.Palo Alto need to come and support a change in this bus service that almost no one uses except for school students twice a day. It pollutes our air with diesel soot, empty big busses are not needed and cost a million a year to run. These are used or justified by many as school busses that run all day empty except at school start and end times.
