Iran--Bush and Cheney Wrong "Go To" Guys
Original post made by A Boomer on Nov 10, 2007
Thankfully, going nuclear is neither an easy or a quickly achieved accomplishment, and these guys, even if they knew what they were doing, are still a long ways away from coming even close to being able to make a nuclear device--peaceful or otherwise--let alone actually having a reactor or a weapon.
That said, the Shrub Administration, ne Cheney, appear hell bent to attack the country before they leave office. Even if such an action were indicated due to a clear and present danger (and that is not the case), these are not the people who should be doing anything at all in the next 14 months to further undermine the United States' position in the world, to put this country at long term risk through further weakening our military resources and depleting our government treasure.
They have demonstrated time and time again that they are not "go to guys" for this country, and it was a serious mistake that they were voted into office (and even that remains questionable.) The federal deficit, the declining dollar, the shaky housing market, the poor response via FEMA and vetos of bills when infrastructure in New Orleans and elsewhere have failed or is at serious risk of doing so, our relations and stature with other countries, our sorry moral leadership after torture of people detained and ousting career attorneys from the Justice Department for political reasons... need I go on?
These are not "go to guys" for anything with a track record like that. And they think that they need to exit the stage only after bombing Iran before they go?

I don't know if bombing Iran now, or in the future, would be a good thing or not. However, if it needs to be done, it should be done by adults. That is why I would support Bush/Cheney to do it, instead of Clinton/Obama.

If only Carter had accepted the declaration of war by Iran and responded appropriately, Iran would have learned that when you mess with the bull you get the horns. By responding to an act of war with mewling the future was set.

A small note in the Daily Telegraph the other day said that the British are sending an aircraft carrier and 3 support ships to be located in the Persian Gulf near the Iranian coast; they will be in place by next May. That is supposedly the last window of opportunity the Bush administration has for bombing Iran. Needless to say the Brits aren't happy about this.
