Math-Phobic parent -

You didn't mention which grade your student is in, but I've tutored kids in math at Gunn for a couple of years, and work occasionally with those kids outside school. I also have four kids of my own, from a high school junior down to a fourth grader, so I've had lots of experience helping with math at many grade levels. I'm currently working for the PAUSD as a math instructional aide at our elementary school at the request of our principal, and I am gradually working towards a math teaching credential (I was a chemical engineer in my "prior" lifetime). If you think that I might work well as a tutor for your student, you could email me at rivkachana2003@yahoo.com. Hope I can be of help!

Don't worry about seeking a tutor - almost everyone has a math tutor, especially certain students who are pushed ahead in advance of the curriculum by their parents (thereby guaranteeing high grades when the actual material is "studied" and tested in the class. It makes it much easier if you know the curriculum in advance.

if your kid goes to paly at least, i know the math teachers keep extensive lists of math tutors - both current paly students, and graduated ones at stanford and other nearby colleges. from personal experience, i can say that students who have had that teacher are often the best tutors because they understand what's covered in the class.

good luck!

I am in Algebra2/Trig H, and there are tons of people in my class that are amazing students, and all of whom are potentially great tutors. If you talk to the Math Dept. they have a huge list of tutors that you can pick from. I hope this info helps.
