So which roads can we expect the Secret Service to close?

I thought the dinner was at Vinod and Neeru Khosla's home in Portola Valley?

According to all recent news stories and a Google search, the Khosla residence is in Portola Valley, not Palo Alto.

Perhaps the President should be doing the job we elected him to do instead of continuing his never ceasing campaigning and fund raising junkets. He has failed to satisfactorily address the Benghazi cover up, the illegal targeting of conservative groups by the IRS, the Justice Department's scandal with the AP and the targeting of a Fox news reporter's phone and e-mail records. He claims to be clueless as to how all these things happened without his knowledge, learning of some by watching the televised news. Does he really think we're that stupid?
Where's the HOPE?

@35 year old:

* "the President should be doing the job ... instead of ... fund raising junkets" Do you favor public financing of elections? If not, then you're a hypocrite to complain about the most popular politician in America (save Bill Clinton) doing fundraisers.

* "He has failed to satisfactorily address the Benghazi cover up" NO cover up at all, despite the whining Darryl Issa does. Soon to be Nat'l Security Adviser Susan Rice explained it all in her testimony. The Secretary of State testified and reported n the whole tragic thing. It's all over, 'cept for the GOP trying to make noise and political points out of lies. Why is the GOP lying? Because they have no policies America wants to hear about. Scandal (real or perceived) is not an agenda.

* "the illegal targeting of conservative groups by the IRS" The Inspector General report showed everything -- it was a few employees in Cincinnati -- the thriving nexus of all tinfoil hat conspiracy theories! (Ha -amirite?) Again, more GOP whining, and lying, like the Fox lie about Bush appointee Shulman going to the WH 157 times. They're still repeating that lie at Bretibart, aren't they?

* "the Justice Department's scandal with the AP and the targeting of a Fox" Now you're onto something, unfortunately, even the GOP thinks this is covered under 'security' and 'leak' prevention. Do you see any serious investigations on this? Me, neither...

* "Does he really think we're that stupid?" I can't tell you what President Obama thinks of you, but after reading your rote upchucking of baseless fringe right wing talking points...

... I certainly have an opinion.

g'day...

THere has been NO publicized advanced notice from the PAPD, Secret Service, or anyone else on the parking restrictions, traffic diversions, 101 close-down, and all the rest of the routine for this visit of POTUS - (President of the United States). There are big parking restrictions now in the Crescent Park area, and the northbound evening commute from San Jose will be one giant mess unless hopefully, he will come via the Central Expressway which has a close connection to the VIP terminal on the north side of San Jose Airport. Anyway you look at it, it will still be a frustrating commute.

I just love it when big wigs pass through. road blocks everywhere. 50 other states presidents can pass through and yet they always pick california. I didn't asked to be inconvenienced

39 year residents agrees with @35 year resident. When is this guy in his office just DOING HIS JOB? Also, it's the height of arrogance to come into the Bay Area at 6pm, which is an already a very slow commute. There's no reason in the world why the 'Ruler of the Free World' can't come in to visit his West Coast ATM at 1pm when there will be less impact on people who are driving home from their jobs, stressed, tired, and overworked and in most cases, underpaid. Add to that the irony of all that money being raised at a personal vanity dinner for more political infighting when less than a mile away, people in another community are poor and killing one another with impunity. Take even HALF the money raised tonight and contribute it to a public program to help those kids in that community. There's no longer any HOPE for CHANGE. The CHANGE is all going to pad the war chests of politicians.

Enough--did you read the story??/ He is arriving at 1PM, nit 6PM. as for your and 35 year resident talking points--typical right-wing whining.
There is no Benghazi cover up--but why not investigate all the embassay attacks during Bush's presidency--why not mention the fact the under the republicans embassay security money was cut severely. I guess those are not part of the McCain/Limbaugh/Palin/wingnut talking points

"The CHANGE is all going to pad the war chests of politicians."

@enough: do you favor public financing of elections, or prefer the current system of politicians (of all stripes) selling themselves to the highest bidders?

Do you like George Soros, Sheldon Adelson and Big Oil buying elections? Or rather have taxpayers finance less expensive elections, with politicians being "bought and paid for" by us? It works in Arizona and Maine at the state level.

More simply: are you whining because it's Obama, or do you want change?

The president is doing his job. Unfortunately, unless we have public funding of elections, all elected officers and potential elected officers have to raise money. There are far more important things to worry about ( be you on the right or the left) than being briefly inconvenienced for a fundraising visit. I am not worried that President Obama is neglecting his duties. It would help if the Congress could get its act together and do some work, too.

It is abhorrent to me how much money is spent on elections. The outdated length of time it takes to elect a president. I can't believe that electioneering starts taking place so early nowadays.

This money should be spent on better things. How about using some of this money to improve the country's infrastructure, or reducing the deficit? Other countries spend a lot less time and money on elections. But, of course this is the U S of A and everything has to be bigger, better and more expensive!

@Bob:

Air Force One is not flying into SJC. It's landing at Moffett Field around 4pm.

The motorcade route is not publicized for security reasons.

Here's some info from Mountain View Patch:

Please be sure to send POTUS a bill for all the city workers, police, etc , like Atherton did. And what is our wasted time worth while we wait for the royal motorcade to pass by? Wasn't he just here??

That Vinod name sounded somewhat familiar .. and, Yep! It's the same guy that closed Martin's Beach just south of Half Moon Bay after purchasing it!

What part of Coastal Access doesn't he get? Oh, well, if you're rich...

@71 y/old

Regarding the elections, last time I checked, Obama was on his 2nd term. So why is he fundraising? I would love to hear about the great initiatives he is working on these days, between hosting celebrities at the WH and his regular rounds of golf. I'll help you out: start your retort with the moral relativism and invoke Bush. Obama is like Bush II -- both horrible.

Obama was my most regrettable vote ever. Those who bought into his Hope and Change and most transparent gov't ever BS are either low IQ voters or just those far left "Americans?" who are all for a means to an end, even if it trumps the basic freedoms and rights that our forefathers gave us. The cats out of the bag and we true patriots are not buying it anymore. Using his over expanded and over reaching gov't jack booted IRS thugs to intimidate and silence any opposition to his political will is sick and disgusting and reminiscent of Goebbels and Stalin's tactics of the early 20th century. That's what helped him win this last election and it's pathetic.

It would be hard for him to attend a 5PM event if he doesn't arrive until 6PM. Given the timing of his departure from North Carolina, I'm wondering if he'll appear at the McCue's via satellite link.

My goodness - I love reading all the whining and moaning! Thanks for unloading...

And to President Obama....Welcome to Palo Alto. It is a pleasure having you here. Maybe you'll tie up traffic a little while, but I'm sure things will go back to normal soon enough. Sorry to miss both fundraisers, but I trust you'll meet your objectives.

Obama comes here so much because it is one-stop shopping for big bucks! he can't get a fraction of the dough he gets in Sillycon Valley from the other 49 states combined! [Portion removed.]
