Florida gov. just signed a bill (HB 609) which allows schools to punish cyberbullying on school-owned computers or networks and allow school officials to act more broadly if an action "substantially interferes with or limits" a student's ability to learn, that is if they see the kid using their own phone or tablet to bully.
Things that can be considered cyberbullying include the creation of a web site in order to impersonate someone else, or things like posting threats in a way that can be viewed by more than one person.
The law goes into effect July 1.
Why is California not doing the same thing. Cyber-bullying is way more dangerous than old-fashioned bullying because it is so much more widely heard.
