New committees undermine transparency

Palo Alto Mayor Greg Scharff has just a year as the ceremonial head of the City Council, but in just four months he has made some changes that are rankling some of his colleagues and should also concern members of the public.

Let's start with this question: The public's right to participate? What about the council's right to participate? The citizens did not elect an/a (apparently self appointed ?) "committee".

The hype around transparency has truly been "hype",
but isn't that why we have three City of Palo Public Relations managers for the city now?

Why would anyone expect "Son of Klein"to be a source of democracy?
Evidently the historical lessons learned are that you can dominate council... Scharff just hasn't learned to be subtle. He's only reflecting the arm of council he grew up on -
