What's the microchip planted into a dog for? Is it supposed to track down the whereabout of the dog?
I think the microchip contains identifying information, such as the owner's name, phone number and maybe also some record of innoculations. Maybe someone with more specific knowledge can give us more information.
The microchip just provides an ID number, which matches a record with the owner's information in the manufacturer's database. Vets also keep them on record.
I love such stories. And major kudos to the woman who found, and volunteered to adopt, him.
