My Recent DMV Experience
Original post made by Paul Losch on Feb 1, 2013
I tried to renew on line. Did not work. I tried the automatec phone system, and was told I could not renew with a debit card over the phone. Wait time to talk to a real person was one hour.
I went during my lunch hour to a DMV office, and was told that the wait time was 3 hours. No way!
I went back the following morning, and it took a "mere" hour of waiting before my 3 minute transaction took place with a real human being.
For such a simple transaction. why are there not kiosks, the likes we see at banks, post offices, and other places?
Are you seeking for nostalgis? The DMV is a throwback that will satisfy your desires.
What it did for me is to make sure I do all I can to avoid going to that place again.

Um, Paul, all you need to do is go on-line to Web Link and enter your license plate number and last 5 numbers of your vin and you are good to go. What's so hard about that? I did it just this week without any paperwork and it took all of 5 minutes.

Go online and use the appointment system. If in a hurry, try appointments at any nearby offices. Some get u an apptmt far quicker than others.
nice line about the 'nostalgia' of it all... remember cashing your check on fridays at banks b4 atms?
And no cell phones, finding a pay phone? Kids have it so easy these days....

Your suggestion is well taken, and I tried to do it. It would not let me in. I don't know why and I tried several times. Nothing hard about it if it works, and it flamed out in my case.
