Recommend a good year round CSA?

Original post made by Organiclaws, Crescent Park, on Jan 10, 2013

I'd like to sign up for a year round CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Pick up anywhere in Palo Alto or Menlo Park is fine. The two I've found so far are Maraquita Farm and High Ground Organics. I also looked at Frog Hollow Farms which has a very convenient pick location, but they seem to only do fruits, and I definitely want vegetables as well.

One other possibility - Capay Valley Farm Shop. Their website says they do a dropoff at Calafia.

I heartily recommend Collective Roots in E. Palo Alto, w/pick up in Palo Alto as well as their office on Woodland/Newell. Hyper-local, organic produce, 1/2 orders & full orders, fruit often included. The stone fruit we had last summer was some of the best we ever tasted.

Mayfield Cafe has their own farm in Woodside & offers a CSA, pick up at their restaurant. I haven't used it, but I do enjoy their food.

These 2 are likely the most locally sourced CSAs, if that matters to you.

Collective Rots also has office hours & you can check out their office garden. Their flagship garden, at a local school, is impressive & they feature an outdoor oven & cooking classes as well as gardening classes.

Thanks for the suggestions - do you know if Collective Roots runs year round? I couldn't tell from their website.

Another CSA just started 2 years ago, in 2013, is Ananda Valley Farm, in Half Moon Bay. They deliver to the Ananda Church in Palo Alto every Sunday or to EastWest Bookshop in Mt. View.

Very fresh vegetables. Picking to delivery is only 1 to 2 days.
