Too many speeders and not enough speed limit enforcement on both of those streets. Problem is compounded by too much distance between stop lights on both of those streets.

At least it was two cars, and not a speeding car aginst a motorcycle or a kid on a bike.
Middlefield is NOT Oregon Exwy.
Oregon is NOT the freeway.
I live 2 blocks off Middlefield and say a prayer every time I have to make a left turn.
Seriously, nobody actually drives the speed limit, and I'm not asking you to, but I routinely see people who are going twice the limit on Middlefield!
Next time you are 'running late' visualize paralyzing someone and ask yourself if it's really worth it?
No, I don't mean morally, I mean financially. How much liability insurance do you have? $10k? $100k?
24 hour care for an invalid can easily cost $100k/year. Imagine getting sued for $2 million and having your insurance company write a check for their maximum obligation.
Now you're in court, you're own insurance company paid off rather than defend you and they are coming after you for the rest.
How is going twice the posted speed limit NOT grossly negligent?
How much is your 401(k), your house, or your future earnings worth?
Even if you are a selfish sphincter, you should STILL slow the heck down before you hurt yourself...

Wasn't there a rollover crash at that intersection just a couple of months ago? With the coffee shop and cafe at that corner and homes lining both streets, there is always plenty of pedestrian traffic at this corner. Please obey the speed limits before you kill someone.
