The "100-year" flood metric is based upon historical events. Humans are warming the planet and making climate more volatile. Resultant higher sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events portend repeated "100-year" floods in coming decades. Designing for the "100-year" flood may in fact be designing for the 20-year or 10-year flood of the near future. To achieve true "100-year" flood security we may be required to design for the 200-, 300-, or 500-year floods of the past.

Super excited to see this project finally moving ahead. It will be a great comfort for all of us living in the shadow of the creek. It's also great to see the 101 getting repaved next door. Thankfully Californian's understand the value of infrastructure projects like these which create jobs and improve the quality of life for all of us.

Save some money - remove and don't replace/expand the Newell Bridge. Bikes/Peds are OK - don't need the cars/traffic.
