Stanford sophomore, Marissa Ferrante just captured the national title in the Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championships Saturday, April 21, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Marissa completed the Olympic Distance race with a time of 2:06.28, five seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. There were 500 women competing from colleges across the United States and the race was run in heats. She did not know her first place finish until all the heats had completed the course. During her post race interview she stated that she came out with the first group from the swim and had a fast transition on the bike. She held a front position on the bike leg and then brought it home with the run. She stated how proud she was to represent Stanford and what a great job the USAT has done in putting on these races.
