HSR misunderstanding

The primary reason for objecting to the original 4 track HSR was the taking of properties it necessitated. Not mentioned was the fact that these takings were not just throwing people out to the curb. Any property taken would be adequately, sometimes more than adequately compensated. Property already somewhat substandard because of the proximity to the rails would be converted to real money that would enable moving up the chain. Frankly, a 100 foot strip of commercial
