At the same time we have Don Quixotes attempting to garner more federal funds for an ill-conceived High Speed Rail system in this part of the world, a critical local transit operation, CalTrain, is proposing to cut back on its "Baby Bullet" trains in order to close an operating deficit.
I am not a regular user of public transit, although I have been in the past for work from PA to SF.
Would federal funds, assuming they are there, be better directed toward a high speed rail system or a commuter rail system?
I vote CalTrain. not HSR.
