My children, grandchildren, and I have spent many hours over many, many years enjoying Mitchell Park and Mitchell Park Library. In recent years we saw in both areas a very fragile street person who had seemed to make these sites his home. Often his shopping cart loaded with possessions was parked by the back door of the library and near the sandbox in the park. He looked somewhat threatening but never did anything to confirm that he was. My daughter and I worried about his wellbeing more than we worried about a threat he might present to any of us.
I heard part of a conversation today at Mitchell Park Library that indicated he may have died. Does anyone know the story? Having volunteered in a soup kitchen for many years from 1985-1999, I met many helpless souls as this man appeared to be and , having not observed him in recent months, would appreciate knowing the resolution.
