Miss America Is Old
Original post made by Paul Losch on Jan 30, 2010
I have not seen a Miss America Pageant since that time. It may be that things have changed, but when I had a Yahoo topic flagged on my home page today, it appears to have changed very little.
At this point, the age of the women is the same as my daughter's, which is a bit startling for me. I took a couple minutes, healthy American male that I am, and surfed the pictures of all the young ladies who are representing their States, and they are all very pretty, as one would expect for people at that age and in such a contest.
But why does this silly thing continue? The whole concept seems to be such a throw back to another time that is best let to pass.
I suppose in my case, it is like most things around celebrity. I don't get it, I don't pay attention to it, and I think it is a colossal waste of time.

Kinda like me not watching the Superbowl or the World Series any more, hey? Given a choice between the State of the Onion or Miss America, I chose the more realistic.

These "pagents" continue because they are all owned by rich horny old white men like Donald Trump. Mid-life crisis taken to an extreme.

No pageant for some old men I suppose.
Miss America Pageant is a great American tradition which has caught on across the world, would you rather see them in burqas ? Web Link
I see that the current Miss England,Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge ( Combat Barbie )served in the Army in Iraq.
The 22-year-old soldier has already served in Iraq but said she was hoping to join the effort in Afghanistan after stepping down as Miss England in July next year. Web Link
