What should be the selection criteria for the next PAUSD Superintendent?

I am not a resident of the PAUSD and therefore I will not offer my views regarding selection criteria but rather will attempt to facilitate an intelligent discussion.

A plea for people to resist putting Ivy League degrees and top-tier colleges as sole consideration. We need someone with a good track record of success who can work with the community, not just a figurehead with an Ivy League degree. The person also needs to communicate well. Those emails from Skelly were rambling and uninformative. He was a nice guy, but we need a leader.

We definitely need the right personality for the job.
This is a district with a high concentration of high tech, college-educated people who work in highly collaborative environments. They volunteer more than in most districts. The teachers, too, especially at the high school level, tend to have an extremely high level of education and involvement with their work.
We need an administrator who knows how to work well with both groups and bring them together. This is a skill good principles have to learn, too -- being open to both groups and not leaning too hard in either direction.
We also need someone who has no trouble being absolutely honest -- and who is willing to clean house at the district office. We have a lot of people who have been there a long time, whose best days are behind them and who really should retire. We also have too many petty bureaucrats, sorry, but it's true. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with bureaucrats, that's what they're supposed to be, it's the pettiness that doesn't serve us well.
We could use some intelligent energy in the district office.
We don't need a figurehead with an Ivy League degree, but we do need to hire someone who thinks always striving for the best education for our kids - all our kids - is a core value.
