Feb. 17, Presidents Day, will mean more than school closures and cherry pie. City, state and federal facilities will also shut down, and commuters can expect schedule changes.

The City of Palo Alto’s departments (at least those not related to public safety) will close, and all Palo Alto libraries will be closed on Sunday, Feb. 16 as well as on Monday, according to the city’s website. The City Council will not have a meeting on Monday night.

SamTrans and Caltrain are also changing schedules for the holiday. Caltrain will run 44 trains, including a total of 11 Baby Bullet trains in the morning and afternoon between San Francisco and San Jose. There will be one round-trip train to Gilroy. SamTrans will operate a regular, non-school day schedule for the holiday.

The revised schedule is available online.

VTA bus service schedules will not change, according to that agency.

All U.S. Postal Service offices are closed, as are most banks and credit unions, but some banks may remain open. Wells Fargo Bank is one of very few banks that will be open on Monday, the bank confirmed.

  1. Bad headline. I read this to mean that the library and transportation had changed their hours from Monday onwards. I looked at the article hoping that we were going to have better library hours in the future (I spent 20 minutes outside the library this week waiting for it to open at noon).

It should read “for” Monday to give the impression that it is just for one day, not ongoing.

  2. these robberies are result of blond domination of police departments. if you’re not blond you’re in jail. palo alto police dispatcher is blond ,police chiefs have been blond. thats why you provoke armed robberies. racism is the way of the blond police dominators.
