We would prefer our energy usage information without the sermon.

You can opt out. I did. I found the comparisons ridiculous and the claims that I am not doing as good as neighbor X insulting. Typical of our city's " green" agenda.

We got a couple of letters telling us that we use too much electricity. However, they did not take into account that we are a family of seven in a three-bedroom house, or that one of our cars is electric, another a plug-in hybrid. (Two chargers)
We informed them of this, and they insisted on sending out a contractor to check out our house. This in spite of the fact that when we remodeled last year, a city inspector checked out our house for safety and energy efficiency, and we passed with flying colors. When the contractor the PA Utilities sent inspected and saw that we had done everything possible to save energy, including drying laundry in the back yard, he declared the visit a waste of time.
But wait, there is more: two weeks later, the PA Utilities called us and asked if the visit were helpful and if, as a result, we would be having more work done to our house! I referred them to the contractor, and informed them that even he had said the visit was a waste of time, no further work needed here!
