please look right before turning right
Original post made by pedestrian on Oct 11, 2013
The problem is that most drivers turning right for some reason have their eyes glued to their left and never look for other road users on their right. You need to look right whether or not you have a green light. Also look right at stop signs and when pulling out of driveways. Always look right before turning right. This only takes an extra second or two out of your busy day. Please please please. Thank you.

Pedestrians coming from where a driver is not looking also can try be sure they have made eye contact before walking in front of a car. Never blindly walk in front of any vehicle that can kill you without noting it has seen you or not.
I learned this lesson early on in my driving career when exiting a parking lot was looking so hard to the left that I did not see that the car in front of me that I thought had exited the parking lot was sitting them stopped in from of me for no reason. Never assume. Fortunately I just softly bumped the car as I slowly rolled out - no damage, except to my ego.

Demanding that pedestrians make eye contact with you is really lame. What if the pedestrian is already half way across the street before you start pulling out? If she waits in the middle of the street hoping that you look her way, then she is a sitting duck for cars coming from other directions. Older pedestrians or parents with small children may not be able to run to get out of your way. Some pedestrians will pound on the hood of cars that are about to hit them, but this can spook the driver into hitting the accelerator instead of the brake.
The only solution is for car drivers to pay attention. Come to a full stop before starting your turn. LOOK RIGHT BEFORE TURNING RIGHT. Memorize that. It is not that hard. Thank you.

This is a no-brainer, but look BOTH ways, right, left, and right again before turning right. As a bicyclist, I was once hot by a driver looking left while turning right. he had to pay my medical bills and then some,
