Filming Sunday Dec 1st at El Camino and Sherman

Original post made by curious minds on Dec 2, 2007

A large crew was out today filming at the motel on the corner of El Camino and Sherman. Does anyone know what they were filming? I asked one of the Production Assistants but she didn't want to share any information. This appears to be good business for the city and should be encouraged.

That motel is scheduled for redesign and refurbishing. Maybe they were doing a 'before and after'.

Filming can create too much traffic and congestion on our roads. We do not need this.
The football game was bad enough on Saturday, clogging up streets. Our city council needs to address this issue--Stanford needs to make sure that it;s traffic only comes from the 280 side.

I walked by there - I think it was a Toyota commercial shoot - they had 2 identical orange cars and there was a flyer on the front of a truck that said it was a parking pass for the Toyota commerical.

Of all the dinky little motels in California, what was so special about that place? Toyota couldn't find a cheap motel in LA to use? If the place is really going to be renovated, I guess the commercial shoot didn't need to be very careful about not disturbing people or breaking stuff

Hey

Maybe they needed extras and our kids could have learned a bit about movie making. Next time publicise it some more and make it a public event.

Did you mean on Sunday December 2nd? I too saw the film crew as I drove by on El Camino. In my experience these shoots can drive large amounts of money directly into the local economy. As the other writer mentioned, there are opportunities for our young people to learn first hand about film making. This can't happen if we push every money making opportunity to other cities and states. Perhaps Palo Alto is becoming more like Atherton every day?

Personally, I wish some smart Palo Alto developer would turn one of these vast empty lots into a small movie studio. Talk about a boom to the economy -- the last thing we need is more restaurants, clothing stores and Starbucks.

Film all they want!! Brings money into our city. We should be pushing this type of business. Look what in brings in for SF.
Hell, I'll my house out to a film crew!!!

Is everyone who posts to this place a local business owner?
