I have been a member of many Yahoo Groups, kids' sport team groups, classroom groups, Church discussion group, on-line book club, to name most. I had always assumed I was in a friendly group of like minded people and that what I had to say (after all the membership was people I knew and would have chatted to elsewhere for the most part) was as confidential as if I had been in a real discussion group instead of a virtual discussion group. It seems that this is not the case. When any of us join a Yahoo group, all the comments made are deep in the vaults of the internet and may be resurrected at any time to haunt us. For this reason, I think we should remember that any time we agree to join one.
Is this true, or am I being over-cautious?
