Science Bowl competition moved to San Jose

The location of Saturday's National Science Bowl competition, which was scheduled to take place at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, has been moved to National Hispanic University, 14271 Story Road, San Jose.

For those traveling to San Jose for the competition, the venue is in an area that can be described as sketchy at best. Try to park at or very near the venue, and don't leave any valuables in your car. It is an area known for gang activity. No need to be paranoid if you keep to yourself, but an extra layer of awareness would be advised.

This was a bad idea at best. Much of SJ is one big questionable neighborhood these days, but the one this activity is in is worse than most. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

And don't let your middle school age/young teens walk down to the 7-Eleven or corner market during breaks. Having on the wrong colored shirt could lead to some serious confrontations and problems.
