The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center in Mountain View presents Kevin Bean, Backyard Paintings & Geometric Abstractions, from October 8 through November 26 in Mohr Gallery. On Friday, October 9, 6-8 pm, there will be an opening reception and artist talk. The exhibition will present 20+ drawings and paintings by Bean, who has taught drawing and painting at Stanford University since 1999. One group of large paintings on display was inspired by black and white family photos that Bean recreated from memory and imagination. The paintings show Bean’s concern for the relationships among the people as much as his interest in color and paint itself. A second group of works on display present small geometric drawings and show Bean’s interest in geometry and color. Bean's work has been widely exhibited in both solo and group shows and he is the recipient of numerous awards. CSMA is located at Finn Center, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View. The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. For info about CSMA and/or the exhibition, see www.arts4all.org or call 650-917-6800, x306.
