PA Daily Becoming "Peninsula News Every Once In A While" Palo Alto Issues, posted by A Newspaper Reader, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Apr 3, 2009 at 9:34 pm
A small item on page 1 of today's PA Daily notes that it's dropping publication of a separate Sunday edition, thereby making it's publishing schedule Tue-Sat, plus the PA is being dropped from the name as (presumably) it's all going to be one Peninsula-wide generic Daily News (no more separate Redwood City Daily News, San Mateo Daily News, etc.).
I also note that at least since the beginning of the this year (possibly earlier), the SF Examiner stopped being delivered in the boxes around town.
I expect that the Daily Post will be the next to go (not that I'll miss that rag) and the Weekly will likely become just that - once a week (any comment, editors, regarding that?).

There are at least 4 free newspapers distributed in Palo Alto. Good for them if they are all profitable right now. However, I would not be surprised to see that number go down this year.

BTW - isn't the Palo Alto Weekly already a weekly? I used to receive it twice a week, but now only get it once a week. At least they have daily updates on the internet.

How sad, how will I survive my Sundays!!!
Palo Alto has three local papers, the Weekly which is delivered to us on Friday, The Daily News which we can pick up Monday through Saturday. The Daily Post which is available Monday through Friday.
I am surprised they chose Sunday to eliminate the Daily News because we won't have any one of our three local papers available to us on Sunday.
