Electrical fire at Whole Foods Market

Original post made by Tyler Hanley, digital editor of Palo Alto Online, on Jan 27, 2009

We have had reports of an electrical fire at Whole Foods Market this afternoon, shortly before 2 p.m. I just entered the market myself and thin layers of smoke are wafting around the vegetable/fruits area of the store. A paramedics van pulled up as I was leaving. The store has not -- and apparently will not -- be evacuated. Our staff writer Don Kazak just returned from speaking to some employees and we will be posting a story shortly. This is not a major fire, but shoppers sensitive to smoke may want to avoid the store for the next hour or so.
