Perhaps enough people discovered that the "Green Belt Alliance" is a group of developers and their attorneys who want to build super high rise, high density in the cities of Silicon Valley and would like to control all development in the cities. This measure had nothing to do with the enviroment and everything to do with justifying super-high-density development(s).

There seems to be a lot of confusion in the above two postings. The first post reads more like a malicious, personal attack than any kind of solid, well-reasoned political argument. The second poster is clearly misguided. Measure A has nothing to do with "controlling all development in the cities" -- or any, as far as I can tell. (Is the second poster even talking about Measure A?!? I wouldn't think so if it weren't for his/her signature.) Measure A focuses on regulating development in rural, hillside areas and open spaces, in an attempt to preserve open space and reduce sprawl -- which is getting to be a huge problem in SC county if you look around.

Joanna--I see no confusion in my original postings. Obviously my posting is not a "malicious, personal attack" otherwise the ditors of this forum would have deleted portions--regardless it is my opinion of Drekmeier, based on his comments to the papers post-election and his previous history of "environmental" action.

Measure A was an attempt by "environmentalists" to control/grab private property. the measure itself was overlong and tedious--causing many people to wonder why it took 13+ pages to makes it's case. Also, as I stated Drekmeier has a no-compromise style, which turned many people off.

Fortunately good sense won out and the measure went down to defeat.

BTW, I still see, today, Yes on A signs remaining on public property.

I happened to watch Drekmeier on TV, recently. He was talking about global warming. He went on and on, assuming that it was a real thing. He had a partner on with him, who said that he had "run the numbers" and nuclear power is a proven winner, in terms of CO2 emissions. But Drekmeirer just tossed it away with a foolish comment that "who whould want to live next to a nuclear plant?"

Drekmeier went on to say that the polar terrestrial ice caps are melting away (they are actually increasing or stable). I have seen him say that hurricanes are more intense, because of global warming, but where were they this year?

This guy is a propagandist. The Green Party might like him, but so what? Anyone notice how well it did in the recent election?

Here is a basic question for Drekmeier: Is there global warming? Defend your answer.

No on A:

Actually, in our view your original post does violate our Terms of Use since it is both disrespectful and a personal attack on another person. However, we have given a little more leeway to comments on the actions or statements of public officials, since they have chosen to run for office and are accountable to us as voters. That said, your criticism of Drekmeier could have been just as effective (though not as colorful) without disrespecting him, and could have actually addressed Measure A instead of one of its advocates. I also think there is a greater chance that he will respond to your criticisms if they focus on the issue rather than the person.

As you point out Drekmeier is a public figure--he is held to a different standard than others.

I do not see my comments as a "personal attack" (though you probably do since criticism of anyone you support is considered a "personal attack"). I offered my opinion about said person and his stance on certain issues.

i stand by my comments, if you find them offensive go ahead and edit them out--continue the policy of trying to censor opinions that go against the PA Weekly stand on issues.
