No one can outrun a bullet - believe me I tried. While the number of people confronted by shooters is, thankfully, minuscule; in the event you are so unlucky, the best alternative is to get to available shelter. If you cannot get out of the line of fire, your only other hope is to attack the gunner. He is feeling totally in command - deny him that and he might fumble or miss and give others a chance to jump him also, or to escape. The worst that can happen is he shoots you, so any alternative seems an improvement.

"Huh, hell, pay attention" as my old sergeant used to say.
Remember, after one passenger load on 911 refused to assist their killers, skyjacking stopped. perhaps the next potential mass killer might be an example if everyone hits him with something heavy rather than cower. My reason for mentioning this now is that people need to know there are alternatives to most things.
