Nasty spill ruins cross-country season for MacQuitty at regional

Philip MacQuitty was hoping for a better finish to the 2008 high school cross-country season, especially after finishing sixth in the CIF State Championships a week earlier. It didn't take long for all that to change, however, when the Palo Alto High junior headed off with the pack in the seeded boys' race at last Saturday's Foot Locker West Regionals on the hilly 5,000-meter layout (3.1 miles) at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Great job, Philip, for picking yourself up and completing the race despite the enormous frustration you must have felt! Life rewards those who finish the race as well as those who win it.
