Menlo-Atherton High School Academy Program Searching for Mentors
Schools & Kids, posted by Kelly Todd, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Oct 22, 2008 at 7:57 pm

The Menlo-Atherton High School Academy Program is looking for mentors for our 11th grade students. We are in need of 44 mentors for this year’s junior class.

The Academy Program has been at Menlo-Atherton for more than 20 years and is committed to developing the academic, personal, and critical thinking skills needed for its students’ success in today’s information-based society. The Academy is a small school within a school and we strive to create a nurturing environment where a love of learning can naturally occur. Our goal is to ensure that the students in the Academy reach their long term goals by partnering them with a mentor in a career field they are interested in.

As a mentor, you will meet with a student to help them plan (through guided activity) for the future. Our first mentor event is scheduled for Friday, November 14th, 2008. We will have a total of four events throughout the school year (November 14th, January, March, and May – dates TBD).

It is never easy to escape the office during the week, but if you are able to commit to four days (one and a half hours each visit) between now and June you will truly make a difference in the community and our students’ lives. Please contact Chris Rubin at crubin@seq.org if you are interested or would like more information! Thank you!
