PA Weekly Censor Is Now Censoring AP News Stories!
Issues Beyond Palo Alto, posted by Wow!, a resident of the College Terrace neighborhood, on Sep 25, 2008 at 11:27 am

Wow, the Weekly just deleted the posting of an AP news article that is currently listed under "Most Popular" on Yahoo News.

Here's the title and the general link to Yahoo News:

Palin once blessed to be free from 'witchcraft'

Web Link

C'mon Weekly - if you want to lock down comments, that's one thing, but to delete an AP news story - there's NO justification for that.

I noticed that thread was gone. The censors didn't have any problem with all the posts bashing Obama for his association with Rev. Wright. What gives?

and why did the Letterman thread get locked down?? Web Link There was nothing - nothing at all - offensive in the replies. It was leading to what could have been an interesting conversation. Why did they cork it?

Maybe the Weekly only wants links or excerpts.

I understand Palin's church believes that all the saved are going to hang out in Alaska while the rest of us go to Hell.

I just keep thinking of those long Winter nights in Alaska and the stories people must invent to amuse themselves or just get through the night.

I feel the censor is correct, we should leave peoples religious beliefs out of it.

If we start showing Rev Wright videos Obama looks terrible and we do not add to the debate,

his link with Ayers and the Chicago mob/machine is relevant however.

tj,

So if a candidate's religious views were in accordance with those of the Taliban that would be irrelevant?

Posted by tj, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Sep 25, 2008 at 11:52 am

Taliban is not a religion it is a political movement.

Islam is a religion, if you want to exclude candidates for elected office because they are Muslim and because some Muslims are Taliban, then you need an education in basic logic as well as the US Constitution.

Obama looks better if we leave religion out of it anyway.

I guess now that Palin's religious views are an issue, we should stop focusing on it. It was okay when Rev Wright's words could be used to bash Obama, but now that something has surfaced showing Palin's religious views, we should stop.

what about Palin's ties to separatists movements in Alaska--is that fair game?

Feel free to air Obama's "ties to Ayers and the Chicago mob"--they are only relevant because they are being used to try to show Obama in a bad light. If anything like that came up about McCain/Palin, they would not be considered relevant. Is that correct?

tj,

Taliban is a movement that bases its actions on a very strict and specific interpretation of Islamic religious teachings.

You may want to leave religion out of it, but there are religious adherents who believe quite strongly that religous beliefs should dictate how everyone lives.

You're trying to create a separation that for many people does not exist. In the case of Palin, her religious views influence her political views--thus, the extreme views on abortion and creationism.

Personally, I think the anti-witch blessing is pretty funny--wonder how the Wiccan vote will be affected.

It gets locked down because the same poster is having a conversation with themselves.

Your IP is known to the system and after many post from the same IP the thread is locked. Of course it is the same person notice the similarity in OhlonePar, a resident of the Duveneck/St. Francis and Elect McCain????, a resident of another community as well as others.

My message to her, go clean your house.

AS opposed to the comments by Mary/Jane/Sharon/TJ/other identities?

All deer are swift

Paul is swift

Therefore

Paul is a deer

Logical fallacy 101

I am glad people are now paying attention to Obamas links to the unrepentant and convicted terrorist Ayers and others in the Chicago mob/machine.

Christians, Jews and Muslims all believe that there are forces of evil.

Anglicans and Catholics conduct exorcisms, you want to ridicule them?

If so you are ridiculing Bidens religious beliefs and those of the vast majority of the US population.

I saw very little difference between that rite and every other religious service I have attended. Substitute carbon for witches and you have the Church of Gore.
