Palo Alto Green? Palo Alto Issues, posted by Walter E. Wallis, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Jun 23, 2008 at 2:26 am
The latest utility bill included Power Content Label 2008. They pproject that the Green customer will ultimately receive 2.5% power from solar and 97.5% power from wind. I must assume that "Green" customers have agreed to shut down when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow. I had great hopes when the flak Utility director was replaced by a Professional Engineer, but apparently even engineers can be seduced into playing to the groundlings. In the long run, the "I vas yust followink orders" defence does not work.

Mr Wallis, The SYSTEM, I was just following order works very well in Palo Alto. Just ask them. One big reason Palo Alto is where it is today. Empoyees who can and could do a good job are skiped over for the SYSTEM supporters. Follow orders get the rewards. No follow orders. Welcome to your new work station. A Culture of Fear. Is where you will be working.
Mr Wallis. Storage. Power storage. Also put on of them wind generators in the City Council Chamber. You would never run out of free wind. Well not so free. It cost the City Millions to listen to these(joke)leaders and costs the Citizens way more than that. Also it is a small step but, a good step. Every little bit counts.

JT, you are right. The advances of science have made solar a viable source of supplemental energy and special purpose energy like the freeway phones. I doubt they will ever approach the 2750 foot/pounds/second the average house needs. The market will decide.
