Sarah, question

Did you see the old tv show as a child, were you familiar with the show as reruns, or was this new to you completely?

These seem fair questions to judge your opinion for others.

Hi Resident. Yes, I saw the shows. What did you think of the movie? I found the slapstick so stupid and offensive, and aside from a few good jokes and the music, I thought the movie was boring.

I haven't seen the movie and don't really have any intention of seeing it. I do remember watching the tv shows as a kid and the little I remember seemed funny to me at the time, but I could hardly say I remember more than just a little of it.

But, my teenage kids have seen it and both thought it was funny but not hilarious. I think the younger they are the more they might like it, but from what they also said, I think it is not too appropriate for younger teens. So I am not sure who the target audience is. Those that are young enough to find the humor and slapstick really funny are not old enough for some of the other stuff. They should have made the humor more sophisticated if they wanted to appeal to an older audience, or taken out some of the innuendoes if they wanted to appeal to the tweenies (or that the tweenies would be allowed go by parents.)

I watched it last night, and I enjoyed it. Apparently the theater audience did as well, because everyone cracked up at the jokes.

Hrm, what sort of expectation did you have prior to watching it?

It's probably a movie meant more for watching when it comes out on DVD as one of those lesser summer flicks.

Still, it made my night, and I'm sorry it didn't impress you.
